To say that we are huge theme park nerds would be a little bit of an understatement. And, while you might not think that South Korea has much to offer in terms of roller coasters and rides, you would be wrong.

From heart-pounding roller coasters to enchanting cultural experiences, get ready to embark on a journey through the best amusement parks in South Korea.

Best South Korean Theme Parks

Lotte World

Atlantis ride, Lotte World
Atlantis at Lotte World is one of our faves.

We’re big fans of Lotte World. Not only is it the best theme park in Seoul (in our not-so-humble opinion) but it also takes the title of the top amusement park in South Korea.

Split into two sections – the indoor Adventure theme park and the outdoor Magic Island – Lotte World boasts a mix of classic and cutting-edge attractions. Visitors can experience everything from heart-pounding thrills (we’re still trying to recover from Gyro Drop) to plenty of family-friendly rides, making it a perfect destination for both thrill-seekers and families.

This park is so easy to visit if you’re visiting Seoul as it’s next to Lotte World Tower and Mall. And, better yet, there are plenty of food options dotted around the park, from fried chicken in a cup to ice cream and more substantial restaurants.

We visited during Halloween, though Lotte World is a magical place all year round. It gets incredibly busy during weekends and holidays though, so try to plan your trip for weekdays if possible.

Everland

Everland, Korea
The Royal Jubilee Carousel is one of Everland’s top attractions.

When it comes to the many theme parks South Korea offers, Everland is Lotte World’s main rival. Most Koreans prefer one over the other and, while we love Lotte World, we still think Everland is a stellar amusement park that you need to visit.

Situated in Yongin, just outside of Seoul, Everland is actually the larger park and a true haven for adrenaline junkies. Divided into five themed zones, Everland is home to a wide variety of attractions, including the world-renowned T-Express wooden roller coaster.

But that’s not all, as the park also features a zoo and water park, Caribbean Bay. The park’s grounds are reason alone to visit – you could easily spend a couple of hours wandering around the beautifully landscaped gardens and themed areas.

Okay, so it’s not a traditional theme park, but we’re counting Caribbean Bay (which is part of Everland) as one of the best theme parks South Korea has to offer. This destination deserves a mention as one of the country’s most popular water parks.

Located in Yongin, this tropical-themed paradise features thrilling water slides, a lazy river, and wave pools. It’s a perfect destination for cooling off during the hot summer months (and Korea gets VERY hot) and adds a refreshing twist to South Korea’s theme park offerings.

Daegu E-World

Sky Drop, Daegu E-World, Korea

In the vibrant (and ridiculously underrated) city of Daegu, E-World is a unique theme park that combines thrilling rides with a picturesque cityscape backdrop. It’s part of a larger entertainment complex called Daegu E-World Park, which includes a shopping mall, an ice rink, and plenty of other attractions.

Boasting a giant Ferris wheel, the knee-wobbling Yanolja SkyDrop, and a viking boat ride, there’s opportunity for thrills in this park. But, aside from these, the rides at E-World are generally a lot gentler, which is ideal if you’re visiting with kids.

E-World is also home to a cultural village that showcases the charm of different countries (think a more lowkey EPCOT at Disney World). The village features architecture, shops, and attractions inspired by various international spots.

Legoland Korea

Legoland might be one of the newest additions to the theme park scene in South Korea, but it has quickly become one of the most exciting destinations in the country.

The Chuncheon park is targeted towards little ones, so you won’t find huge thrills here. But don’t let that put you off as the likes of The Dragon roller coaster will certainly get your heart racing. Plus, the Lego Factory Ride, which sees you transported around a factory as if you are a mini-figure, is one of the most unique rides in the park and an Asia-exclusive.

One thing that all the theme parks South Korea boast do extremely well is theming, so you can bet that the rooms at the Legoland hotel are themed to perfection. Whether you fancy staying in a Ninjago-style abode, or would rather snooze amongst swashbuckling pirates, you’re in excellent company at this hotel.

When hunger strikes, Legoland Korea boasts plenty of foodie spots. From Bricktopia Diner’s pizza offerings to Wok n Bowl’s more traditional Korean offerings, you won’t go hungry. Just remember to save some space for a dessert from Brickstreet Cafe.

Gyeongju World

Gyeongju World, Korea
Seek thrills high above Gyeongju’s traditional buildings.

For those looking to immerse themselves in history while enjoying theme park thrills, Gyeongju World is the perfect choice. Of all the top theme parks South Korea has to offer, this one is the most beautiful by far.

Located in the historic city of Gyeongju, the park combines traditional Korean architecture with modern rides – where else can you admire hanok buildings as you soar high above?

We love how unique this park is. Gyeongju World also showcases aspects of Korean history and culture, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the region while enjoying the excitement of an amusement park.

Lotte World Adventure Busan

Expanding beyond its Seoul flagship, Lotte World Adventure Busan brings the magic of Lotte World to the southern coast of South Korea. With a similar mix of indoor and outdoor attractions, this park offers the same high-quality entertainment and excitement as its Seoul counterpart, though this park is over 20% bigger.

For thrillseekers, the Giant Digger is a rollercoaster not to be missed, and the Giant Swing rivals that of Gyro Drop. While those seeking some family-friendly fun will want to head straight to the Cookie Train. We mean it – the queue times at this park are no joke.

Another thing we love about Lotte World’s two offerings are the parades. In particular, the Lotus Magica Forest Parade is one of the most popular. But it’s the night parade, complete with electrical floats and a gaggle of woodland characters, that we love so much.
